Guided tours of the Zugspitze

Alpine tours to the Zugspitze with a professional guide

Many mountaineers underestimate the demands of climbing the Zugspitze via the Höllental or a route via the Stopselzieher via ferrata. Even in good weather conditions, navigation, sudden changes in the weather or alpine hazards can quickly become a challenge.

A state-certified mountain guide not only offers added safety, but also valuable experience gained from numerous tours. This allows you to focus entirely on enjoying the mountain experience.

Mountain adventures in the Werdenfels region

As well as the Zugspitze, the Alpspitze, the Mittenwald via ferrata and the Waxensteine are also among the region’s most beautiful alpine routes.

Personalised mountain guiding instead of mass tourism

Every tour is personalised and tailored to individual needs. Small groups allow for more personalised attention and greater safety on the mountain.

Whether it’s the crossing of the Jubiläumsgrat, the Eisenzeit climbing route or a classic Höllental tour – the aim is a safe mountain experience.

“When climbing a mountain, it’s not just the destination that counts, but the journey – and having the right company.”

Zugspitze Mountain Guide

Frequently asked questions about climbing the Zugspitze

Here you’ll find answers to the most frequently asked questions about a guided ascent of the Zugspitze with a state-certified mountain guide.

A mountain guide is not compulsory for the Zugspitze. However, particularly on challenging routes such as the Höllental, the Stopselzieher, the Eisenzeit or the Jubiläumsgrat, a state-certified mountain guide ensures a much higher level of safety. They take charge of route planning, weather assessment and navigation, and help to assess risks accurately.
The Gatterl route is considered the least technically demanding way to climb the Zugspitze. However, it does require a very good level of fitness. The Höllental route is considerably more challenging, as it also involves crossing a glacier and tackling a via ferrata.
Depending on the route, you should be in good physical condition, have sure-footedness and a head for heights. Together, we’ll choose the tour that best suits your ability and experience.
The traditional season runs from June to October, depends on snow and weather conditions.
Depending on the tour, you will need hiking boots, a helmet, a climbing harness, a via ferrata set and weatherproof clothing. Before the tour, you will be given a detailed equipment list containing all the items you will need.
Safety is our top priority. If weather or route conditions are unfavourable, the tour will be postponed or we will decide together on a suitable alternative.
